Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine:
Jay Peak is on close to 70 runs. It's seen 325 inches of snow
this season. Mad River
is springy, but with a deep spring base and 100 percent of the
mountain online. Smuggs is still skiing on all three mountain
areas. At Sugarbush,
the last day for Mt. Ellen is April 1st. Daily
skiing at Lincoln Peak will continue through April 22 and weekends
thereafter on the 29th.
Killington is spring skiing. Ski Watch reporters say the
weekend skiing was good with a couple of inches of wet snow. There
are bare and thin spots, but mostly it's good coverage. Okemo is
at 90 percent on all mountain areas.

March 22 (Thurs) - Windham
Nice and sunny now. It's perfect weather. Truly a great spring
day. There's no wind and there's plenty of snow. Of the 46 runs,
only a handful are offline and the majority of the runs are in
really nice shape this morning. It's easy to ski corduroy and while
it's above freezing, it's not slushy ... yet. Highs today are
supposed to get into the 50s. The only runs that I see with a
problem are Chute and Wingin' It. Chute is icy, but that's normal
for that one, and Wingin' It has bare and icy spots. There's many
other trail choices though. Afternoon: Conditions really changed for
the afternoon. More bare spots showed up, especially on Whistler.
The snow got stickier, it was like skiing in slow motion. I used a
high temperature wax, but it didn't help. At least the weather was
very comfy. You really only need a shell or sweatshirt. The best
skiing is early in the day. -Reporter T.C.
March 22 (Thurs) - Ski Butternut
Soft and easy snowcover. The rain/sleet/whatever that was forecast
overnight, never happened. And since it's above freezing, the snow
is still soft from yesterday. I'd say the best skiing will be the
first half of the day. It's real nice, soft and moist and packed
groomed snow. Beautiful. Afternoon:
Just terrific - and the weather forecasts were wrong. It didn't rain
and it wasn't cloudy. It was bright sunshine with highs in the
mid-40s. After lunchtime, surfaces were softer, slightly mushy, but
not mashed potatoes. A terrific day of spring skiing. -Reporter B.C.
March 21 (Weds) - Jay Peak
Happy Spring! It's 22 degrees at the summit and a balmy 33
degrees at the base
with bluebird skies. Jay has received 55" of snow since last
Friday. It's fully open, including the three parks. Can-Am off
Bonadventure is wide whale corduroy that's just starting to soften.
Coverage and surfaces are very consistent. Power Line, an expert
run, has an interesting double fall-line. It's firm to start with
excellent cover. It's midwinter conditions ... at least to start
this morning with highs projected to get into the 30s. Afternoon:
Carvealicious! It's far from spring with temps in the 20s and sun to
soften the snow. JFK had moderate sized, playful bumps with medium
light powder. The trees, Lower Everglades in particular was velvet -
just sensational. A perfect day - a great way for me to wrap up the
season.
