The last time I remember using the phrase, “raunchy, vulgar, but undeniably funny,” I was talking about the Forty Year Old Virgin, a monster hit from 2005 that took the country by storm.

So it’s only fitting that I invoke that same description to promote Knocked Up, now on DVD. Virgin’s direct descendent that features the same coarse humor and sexual situations that made the Steve Carell movie a favorite.

Only, Knocked Up goes one step further by including some gynecological photography that is guaranteed to put you off your game. This tale of a one night stand that turns into a nine month courtship is well-written and nicely paced, but you simply cannot take Mamaw or anyone else who isn’t prepared for the language or sexual situations.

I’m giving Knocked Up high marks, but with a stern advisory.
