You can’t blame Hollywood for wanting to replicate the success of March of the Penguins, a marvelous film that charmed audiences all over the world and won an Academy Award.

This week, we get Arctic Tale, a documentary about a polar bear family and their struggle to survive in a rapidly changing world.

Instead of the elegant, sophisticated voice of Morgan Freeman, which provided the perfect complement to the penguin film’s amazing photography, we get a streetwise Queen Latifah, with tongue pressed firmly in cheek, presumably because Al Gore was unavailable.

Here’s the deal: Mother Nature is not always a carefree lass, and some of what you and your children will see in Arctic Tale is brutal. But the photography and the visual impact of this film are just incredible and should not be missed.
