Will the real Will Ferrell, please stand up?

I’ve seen the former Saturday Night Live star masterfully play the lead in Stranger Than Fiction, holding his own with the likes of Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman.

And I’ve watched with unbridled glee as he cavorted in sequined tights, on ice, in Blades of Glory, which is now available on DVD.

Can we like both versions of Will Ferrell? I hope so, because I love seeing him play the buffoon in movies like Old School, Wedding Crashers, and Talladega Nights, but I also appreciate his talent in more serious roles.

Blades of Glory partners Ferrell with Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder as the world’s first, same- sex, ice-skating doubles team.

The movie is vulgar, occasionally raunchy, and undeniably funny. Call it a guilty pleasure, or simply lowbrow humor, but Blades of Glory has its place in Hollywood.
