Surely one of the United Kingdom’s weakest exports is its sense of humor, but I think we have to give credit where credit is due.

A 2007 cinematic salvo from the country that gave us Monty Python and Mr. Bean is Death at a Funeral, a DVD that takes a potentially humorless premise—a funeral service—and turns it into appealing pandemonium.

Now while I will admit to a number of laugh out loud moments, I have to say that most of what I saw was way over the top and will most likely be too slapstick for many people to enjoy.

In the course of its comparatively short ninety minute run, Death at a Funeral manages to address homosexuality, dwarfism, blackmail, hallucinogenic drugs, and life in a wheelchair so if you’re the least bit curious about how all of these elements intertwine, then I urge you to see this film.
