RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER
Rated PG

Brian’s Rating
The Marvel Comics franchise shows no sign of running out of steam so it’s no
surprise that a second Fantastic Four episode has found its way to
the video store shelves.
My recollection of the first Fantastic Four film brings to mind a
general sense of satisfaction except for the film’s climax which resembled
the final fury of a fireworks demonstration.
Oddly enough, I have the same complaint about this second installment:
interesting story, good character development, and plenty of action. And
then at the end, all hell breaks loose. Not in a good way, but in what
appears to be a chaotic attempt to blow up everything but the kitchen sink.
Once again, I liked most of what I saw, but this was supposed to be another
sterling study of the battle between good and evil…not a demolition derby.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is now available on DVD.
