Brian’s Rating
I got both less and more than I expected from Feast of Love, now on
DVD, and as a
result, I find myself experiencing equal doses of disappointment and
surprise.
The title seems to suggest a celebration of love, romance and affairs of the
heart, but Feast gave me too much of the dark side of relationships
and not enough of the satisfaction one would expect to see from people in
the clutches of Cupid.
Treachery and infidelity play a prominent role, overpowering the joyful
expressions of amour that pop up periodically, and sex, accompanied by
rampant nudity, seems to be the order of the day.
Still, a warm, restrained performance by Morgan Freeman keeps the movie on
track. If you like your romance balanced with sadness, Feast of Love
could provide reassurance that love does indeed conquer all. For the rest of
you, there are a number of attractive, naked people.
