Brian’s Rating
In the opening moments of Forgetting Sarah Marshall,
the filmmakers let us know exactly what we are in for: a heaping helping of
raunchy comedy, starting with a double dose of male frontal nudity. But
since this film is brought to us by the comic geniuses who created The
40- Year- Old Virgin and Knocked Up, these brutally raw and
undeniably vulgar antics should come as no surprise.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall chronicles a classic romantic breakup, the kind
where one partner takes up with a new love while the other becomes a pining,
pathetic basket case. Both parties end up vacationing at the same resort in
Hawaii and that’s where the film’s pleasing cast of supporting characters
takes over and mirth ensues.
While Forgetting Sarah Marshall never really delivers the big laughs,
with due warning about the sex and profanity, it is a funny film.
