I’m a big fan of Anthony Hopkins and anytime he does anything close to his Hannibal Lechter character, I break out in a spontaneous puppy wiggle.

Now imagine Lechter--a cold, blooded killer--but take away the cannibalism and the sadism. Now, give him a motive for his killing, and you’ll sort of have a picture of Hopkins’ character in Fracture.

We know the guy is guilty. We see him shoot his wife. But when the police arrive, as if on cue, they set the killer’s intricate plan in motion and what unfolds is a delight to watch.

The talented Ryan Gosling plays the hot shot attorney charged with putting the killer behind bars, and his courtroom dance with Hopkins is brilliant.

Fracture is not the best thriller I’ve ever seen but it does have plenty to offer. Great performances, a beautifully-executed story, and a fantastic ending make Fracture a great choice.
