Rock legends ZZ Top have written dozens of songs about women, sex, and automobiles. But writer/director/producer Georgina Garcia Reidel puts their cumulative efforts to shame with the release of her first feature film, How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, which combines all three of these elements in pleasing fashion.

In this endearing chronicle of three generations of Garcia women and their quest for sexual discovery during the span of a single summer, Reidel examines the physical expression of love through the eyes of a teenager, a mother and a grandmother. And while the scenes are not particularly graphic, the actions of the characters leave little to the imagination and conservative viewers should be forewarned.

Fine performances by Elizabeth Peña, Steven Bauer, and talented newcomer America Ferrera make How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer a solid DVD choice for the adventurous movie lover.
