Brian’s Rating
There is so much to say
about Grindhouse that I really should devote two reviews to
it. After all, it is actually two movies, shown back-to-back, double
feature style, as homage to the exploitation films of the 70’s.
Quentin Tarantino writes and directs Death Proof, my favorite
of the two, which features Kurt Russell as a stalker of young
women. Robert Rodriquez writes and directs Planet Terror,
the guts, gore, and gunfire zombie fest that kicks off this unusual
pairing. But the bottom line for movie lovers is simple. If you like
Tarantino or Rodriguez, or you watched these kinds of films in the
seventies and liked them, you’ll dig Grindhouse.
But folks, these films are gruesome beyond description and if you
can’t handle the language, the blood, or the violence, you’ll be
running for the exit in no time.
One more thing --- Grindhouse is over three hours long. So
take it easy on the beverages if you know what I mean.
