NOW IN THEATERS
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
Rated PG-13
Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, John
Hurt, Jim Broadbent
Brian’s Rating
The good news is that Indiana Jones is back and he can still bring it. The
bad news is that you’ll have to endure tedious dialogue, an abundance of
chase scenes, and some barely connected plot twists in order to see him work
his magic.
The fourth installment of the Indiana Jones series begins with the
onset of the Cold War and an attempt by those pesky Ruskies to steal some
U.S. secrets.
An almost comical opening scene was so reminiscent of Rocky and
Bullwinkle that I expected Fearless Leader to pop in at any moment.
But after Indy escapes from the bad guys, in trademark fashion, the quest for
the mysterious crystal skull gets underway. Then we are treated to what we
paid for: action, adventure and clever quips from our hero.
Teen idol Shia LeBeouf does a capable job, but this film, like
its predecessors, belongs to Harrison Ford.
