Call me old fashioned, but I think that a movie billed as a comedy should be funny.

When the DVD cover clearly suggests a comic premise and the film comes equipped with a title that suggests—at the very least—whimsy, there ought to be a few laughs.

But I’d be hard pressed to recall a single truly funny moment from Over Her Dead Body, a humorless effort new to DVD that is undeniably D.O.A.

Eva Longoria Parker plays a bride-to-be who is accidentally killed on her wedding day, and returns to the land of the living. Hoping to interrupt a burgeoning romance between her intended and a psychic hired by his sister to get the distraught fiancé out of his funk, the Desperate Housewives star is given ample opportunity to amuse and entertain but fails at every turn.

The dependable Paul Rudd has a few bright moments, but not enough to save this corpse of a film.
