Long after the tales of its box office bonanza and special effects achievements have faded, The Dark Knight will be remembered as Heath Ledger’s final film and the finest performance of his career.

To say that Ledger and his incarnation of the Joker steal the show is an understatement of colossal proportion, because his work here is absolutely brilliant.

From the moment his ghoulish image is revealed to the audience, he takes charge in decisive fashion, and completely overshadows an impressive lineup of Hollywoood notables.

And while that’s no small feat, his effect on the audience is nothing short of mesmerizing, rendering the rest of his cast mates effectively impotent in their efforts to capture the audience’s affections.

Batman fans will love it, but the rest of the world should remember the movie’s title and be prepared for some pretty heavy stuff.
