For martial arts fans who have been forced to choose between Jackie Chan and
Jet Li, The Forbidden Kingdom provides the perfect solution; it gives
us both martial-arts masters and plenty of screen time to watch them work.
And for those who have been praying for a hand-to-hand showdown between the
two titans, your wait is over.
The Forbidden Kingdom puts them face to face early in the action and
buttresses their work with some of the most artistically choreographed fight
scenes I've ever seen.
Add in a decent script, majestic scenery, Jackie Chan's trademark humor, and
a delightful dual-role performance by Jet Li, and The Forbidden Kingdom
becomes a solid choice for fans who love this genre of film and its
stars.
Yes, the story is a little sappy, but just wait until you see Jet Li as The
Monkey King. It's worth the price of admission.
