Brian’s Rating

Mike Myers and sequels go together like Canadians and hockey, but there’s simply no chance that the world will see another installment of The Love Guru, the least entertaining Mike Myers movie I have ever been forced to sit through.

The same fellow that brought Austin Powers to life in three movies falls flat on his face as Guru Pitka, a spiritual father and lovemeister to millions who is hired by a hockey team to mend a rift between a professional athlete and his wife.

The jokes are crude, often vulgar, and they miss far more often than they connect. Myers himself seems to be having a pretty good time, but I can’t say the same for the theatre audience who appeared bored and restless.

Let’s hope that our comic hero is not suffering from Adam Sandler syndrome, or we may be in for more movies that appeal only to the star that makes them.
