NOW IN THEATERS
THEN SHE FOUND ME
Rated R
Helen Hunt, Better Midler, Colin Firth, Matthew Broderick, Lynn Cohen
Brian’s Rating
While I can't rave about Then She Found Me, there's a lot to like
about Helen Hunt's directorial debut and enough to keep most movie lovers
satisfied.
First, the movie gets right down to business, which is important in a
film that has so many plot developments. We learn quickly that our
heroine wants to have a baby and that this desire is consuming her
existence.
In short order, we meet her milquetoast husband, her badgering adoptive
mother, her birth mother, and a new suitor and the action doesn't stop after
that.
Moments of despair frequently overpower the film and keeps it from being
the lighthearted comedy we might have hoped for, but there are serious
issues in play and perhaps the story and the players are served by these
touches of tragedy.
Even if you've seen the trailers, you'll find Then She Found Me
anything but predictable.
