Medical Terms

A Quickie Primer

It's All Greek to Me!

Many medical terms have Greek (and Latin) roots:

BRONCH - air passages in
the lungs

-ITIS = inflammation
-ALGIA = pain

Therefore... Bronchitis is an inflammation in the air passages of the lung;

Dermatitis is an "inflammation" of the skin;

Myalgia is "pain" in the muscles;  "my" from the
Greek word for muscle.
